With so many ways to get involved and engaged with campus, Penn State makes it easy to stay connected. Below is a list of available smart phone apps (available in both the Apple Store and the Google Play store) that we recommend you downloading. Many of these apps have online, web-based counterparts as well. This list is not exhaustive but provides a good foundation to begin your online engagement.
Canvas is Penn State’s course management system. This is where professors post grades, information, and assignments online. Through Canvas, you also have access to a calendar that has all your assignments’ due dates, a to-do list that tracks homework, and a messaging system that you can use to communicate directly with your classmates, professors, and TAs. This is the key to your academic success!
Looking for a way to remain physically active and healthy? Campus Rec is always offering up something fun! From group exercise classes to the climbing wall and everything in between, the Penn State Campus Recreation app is your go-to location for all things Campus Rec.
Many of Penn State’s websites require a two-factor authentication (2FA) through the third-party company, Duo, in order to verify your identity. The easiest and quickest way to verify your identity is by downloading the Duo Mobile app. You can then configure your settings to automatically send a push notification to your phone for seamless entry into your Penn State profiles.
The best way to stay in the loop is by regularly checking your Penn State email. Not only is this how many of our welcome programs are shared with you, but it is also the official mode of communication for the University as a whole. Important information will be sent to your email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) on a daily basis, so it’s important to always have your inbox on hand.
The myStop Mobile app provides real-time information on where your CATA bus is. Whether you enable email and text notifications or you utilize the in-app notifications, you can always receive up-to-date information about the next bus at your bus station.
