Fall Welcome (In Season)

Whether you're a new student joining us for the first time, a student joining us from another institution or Penn State campus, or a student returning to University Park, we're excited to welcome you to campus!

Each fall, we prepare to welcome you and over 9,000 other new students to campus. All Fall Welcome events are free for current students and are designed to help you explore and navigate campus, meet new and returning students, and connect to campus resources. You'll have opportunities to engagem in large- and small-scale activities, event designed for the entire incoming class and population-specific events like our Academic College Welcomes, and learn what it's like to be a student here on campus.


Important 2024 Program Dates

  • Early Arrival: Monday, August 19-Thursday, August 22
  • Arrival: Friday, August 23-Saturday, August 24
  • First Day of Class: Monday, August 26

Required Programming

Most of Fall Welcome is optional, however there are a few programs where attendance is required if that program applies to you. You'll receive more information to your Penn State email address, so keep a lookout for the following required programming:

International Student Welcome Days (only for new international students)
This is the third and final step in New Student Orientation (NSO) for International Students. The day will be spent meeting fellow international students, connecting with staff from Penn State Global, and learning about important immigration information and how to adjust to life on campus.

RA Meetings and Floor Dinners (only for new residential students)
These meetings provide you an opportunity to meet your Resident Assistant (RA), learn about the resources they have to offer, and enjoy a meal from your dining commons with your new neighbors. Bulletin boards on each floor of the residence halls will have more information when you arrive, including where and when to meet for your RA floor meeting.
