Arrival Weekend

Spring Welcome kicks off this year with Arrival Weekend, taking place from Saturday, January 8 - Sunday, January 9. In between moving into your residence hall, settling back down in State College after the holidays, or welcoming friends and classmates back to town, there's a host of activities for you to participate in on campus. Check out what's happening over Arrival Weekend below.

All activities and programs with an asterisk (*) welcome parents and families to participate as well.

id+ Card Office

Saturday, January 8: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 9, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lower Level, HUB-Robeson Center

The id+ Office, located on the Lower Level of the HUB-Robeson Center, will be opened from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. today for new students to pick up their student ID card. The office will also be opened from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9 as well.

Centrally located on the first floor of the HUB-Robeson Center, we will have an information desk ready to answer any questions you may have. Staffed throughout the day by various representatives from Student Orientation and Transition Programs, the Penn State Parents Program, and Penn State Global, this is your one-stop shop for all your burning questions.

Campus Tours*

Saturday, January 8: Various times

Hosted by our Lion Ambassadors, campus tours will be provided for any students and their parents and families. These hour-long tours will provide you with a general overview of many facets of campus and student life, and give you an opportunity to ask current students any further questions you may have. Campus tours will be offered on Saturday, January 8 and Sunday, January 9 in two different formats:

Saturday, January 8

Tours will leave from the Pollock Road entrance of the HUB-Robeson Center at the following times:

  • 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, January 9

Tours will leave from the Pollock Road entrance of the HUB-Robeson Center at 12:30 p.m.
Tours will conclude at various locations around campus to align with the locations of the College Dean's Meetings, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Resource Fair*

Saturday, January 8 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

A welcome event for parents and families designed to welcome you to campus. Meet the staff in the Penn State Parents Program, enjoy a light snack, and get answers to any lingering questions. This session will be held concurrently with both Extended Orientation sessions on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

International Student Orientation (Graduate Students)

International Student Orientation (ISO) is a fun and important part of joining the Penn State community. In ISO you will learn about….

  • Academic and social life at Penn State
  • Insurance, immunization requirements, and University Health Services
  • On- and off-campus resources and support services
  • Strategies to get the most out of your time at Penn State

You will also have the opportunity to….

  • Upload necessary immigration and contact information
  • Meet with an adviser and schedule courses
  • Make friends and great connections with your peers and older students

Transfer and Change of Campus Student Welcome

Sunday, January 9: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Join other students who are transferring to University Park (either from another institution or from another Penn State campus) for the first time. You'll get a chance to learn about opportunities and resources available to this unique set of students, how to get involved on campus, and more!

Due to inclement weather, this event has been postponed until Monday, January 10 at 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Please join us in HUB 233AB at that time for your Transfer and Change of Campus Student Welcome.

College Dean's Meetings

Your Dean's Meeting is the official welcome to your academic college. You will hear from faculty and staff to learn about academic advising, expectations, support and resources, and academic and co-curricular opportunities within your college. Dean's Meetings are required for all new first-year students. Some academic colleges also host Dean's Meetings for new transfer and/or change of campus students as well. All new transfer and change of campus students are encouraged to attend meetings available to you.
